Joint military force trains fast rope procedures

The Portuguese Air Force, The Portuguese Marine Corps, and The Portuguese Army special ops and Commando troops conducted fast rope insertions from an EH-101 Merlin helicopter, at #NTM2021, which is taking place at Air Base N.º 11, in Beja, until the 14th of May.

‘Fast Rope’ is a technique used for quickly deploying troops on the ground in places where the helicopter cannot touchdown.

EH-101 Merlin is an excellent asset for the transportation of large numbers of soldiers, due to its capability and versatility.

Captain, pilot Rodolfo Curto emphasizes the importance of joint training, in order to “increase aircrew capability and qualification, and be able to develop any tactical mission, regardless of where the helicopter operates.”
